RAD Studio

Sometimes this term can be misinterpreted by beginners in Delphi development as well as by “old-school” Delphi developers who still use Delphi 7 or even Delphi 5. Yes, we still have a lot of applications of these types and they are enough stable and function perfectly!

RAD Studio is a wider term. RAD Studio is an IDE (Integrated Development Environment) (owns by Embarcadero), which unites under its umbrella a number of other core products – Delphi, C++ Builder, RAD Server, etc. You can start a RAD Studio application using its own short link and develop Delphi and C++ Builder applications inside it. Or you can separately have Delphi or C++ Builder products or even one of them.

Using RAD Studio, you can manage RAD Studio products that are available for your license (use a correspondent “Manage Platforms…” main menu item). You can install or uninstall 32-bit or 64-bit versions, install or uninstall cross-platform development frameworks and SDKs, for example, for Android development or for iOS development. As we have already mentioned, a list of available frameworks depends on your RAD Studio version and your RAD Studio license.

I hope this short article will help you better understand the difference between RAD Studio and Delphi as well as between RAD Studio and C++ Builder. We’ve created this page just like a short tooltip for you.
