For any business, its reputation is one of the key values. Sometimes even one mistake can lead to reputational damages. If your company still uses on-premises software, in some cases it can be a wake-up call for you. Why? We are going to explain it now. But we need to warn you. You can stop reading this text at this point if:

  • you are not afraid that during peak loads your servers may not cope with the growing number of requests and users;
  • you are ready to bear full responsibility for the safety of your clients’ and their users’ data.

Unless you are not a risky person, we offer you our help in finding the most suitable solution to avoid unnecessary threats. It can be re-engineering of your on-premises software or its migration (or of its components) to the cloud platform. There are 2 options: the AWS cloud from Amazon and Microsoft’s Azure. We are focused on the Microsoft Azure Cloud services. And here is why.

Let’s take a closer look at real cases from our practice.

Problem 1. Huge expenses on software maintenance

One of our clients from Switzerland that produces electronic equipment turned to us and asked to find a solution that will help the company to reduce the amounts that they needed to pay for maintenance and support of his software. The company had a custom software for document circulation with classic 3-tier architecture (.NET, C#, Ms SQL Server) and had to pay around $10K per month. But thanks to the migration to Azure we managed to cut this sum by 2, now the costs amount to $5K. The company managed to get rid of on-premises data center as a result it could optimize its staff structure and avoid expenses related to the use of in-house hardware.

The use of cloud services is a good way to optimize your expenses. Azure is not just a hosting for your resources like web apps, databases or virtual machines. It is a complex of cloud tools for performing a row of tasks and resources that give you a possibility for scaling. And at the same time, you as a business owner need to pay only for those resources that are being used. You will pay for the increased calculating power only in the situations of peak loads. When the loads on the system are close to zero – the fees will be also minimal.

Moreover, when you use on-site data centers, you need to hire staff to work with them, to take care of hardware and to ensure support services. All this leads to additional expenses.

Problem 2. Data protection

When you rely on traditional software architecture and use in-house data centers, the only party that is responsible for data security is your company. Can you only imagine what consequences any data loss may have? To avoid such risks, we offer you to think about full or partial migration to the cloud. It’s also worth noting that in this very case the cloud platform will be responsible for security.

Another client, a medical devices manufacturer from Germany, wanted us to find a way to increase the protection level for his in-house data center. After we studied the specificity of the company’s activity and the state of the hardware that was being used, we offered to consider the variant of migration to the Azure cloud. Microsoft Azure provides multi-layered built-in security controls. Moreover, there are special features for threat identification that can help to detect all potential threats and attacks timely and respond to them before it will be too late.

At first, the client was not ready to move the entire software, and we started with data storage migration. 3 months later this company turned to us again to get its system fully migrated.

Problem 3. Functionality

We also have experience of collaboration with the U.S.-based retail company. It had on-premises software that was intended for sending emails, SMS and push notifications. But the client base was growing and reached the mark of 800 000 users of the company’s Android and iOS apps. With the help of the local service and internal computing capacities, it took around 3 hours to send one push-notification to all the users. It was absolutely inappropriate as when the notification reached all the users, the information may have been already outdated. To address this issue we migrated the database to the cloud adding business logic to Azure Logic App. For sending push notifications we decided to use Azure Push Notifications Hub. Now only 1-3 seconds are needed for 800 000 push notifications to reach their addressees.

Are you still not sure whether migration to the Microsoft Azure Cloud is just what you need? You can contact us to get a full-scale consultation but even before you will do it, we offer a short questionnaire for you.

Do you want:

  1. to avoid responsibility for data security?
  2. to be confident that your customers’ sensitive data will be fully protected from DDoS attacks?
  3. to eliminate your expenses for hardware maintenance and support?
  4. to reduce the number of administration specialists in your team?
  5. to minimize operational costs and computing resources costs?

If you have given positive answers to these questions, we strongly recommend you to think about migration.

For our clients, we offer a free analysis of the currently existing software. As a result, you will get an approximate cost and time frames for software migration and reengineering as well as a full list of outcomes. And you will see how much money you will be able to save and how the productivity of your software will change.
